You just got out of a long day of work, going to the gym is not so tempting. Today, I would really prefer not to go! Here are some little tricks to stay disciplined and go workout!
1- Change the program! Your workout routine give you anxiety? The idea of doing just one more burpee or squat make you nauseous? Do something else! Yes, maybe your coach gave you this program because it’s efficient, but your mental health is on the line here! For today, pick another physical activity that you would actually like to do. It may be a little less efficient for your results, but you’ll feel great that you actually did something today, instead of cancelling the gym completely.
2- Plan your priorities. You have other obligations? You just realized that you time would be better spent doing laundry, or working on your ongoing project. Then, take your day off! But make sure you don’t make a habit out of it. In order to do that, just note on your cellphone or calendar, the date you took a break from the gym, and he reason why. So next time you feel like you have a good reason to skip, make sure it has been a long enough time since your last break. Also, making note of the reasons why you skip the gym, you will be able to track down if these a good reasons or just excuses. It may also make you realize you need to organize your laundry better!
3- Start before you decide. You really don’t want to go today. You don’t feel so great, you’re tired or sick. It’s okay, we all have those kind of days. But before you simply skip the gym, go and try to do your program. This way you will see if you really can’t do it, or if you’re good to go. Also, if you’retired, the workout can really give you more energy, and if you’re sick, it can help the blood circulate in your body and surprisingly, make you feel better! So before skipping your workout, give it a chance, it might surprise you!
